About the Energy Analyst roleAt Axle Energy, we\’re building the infrastructure that will underpin the decarbonised energy system. Our software moves energy usage to times when electricity is cheap and green by controlling vehicle charging, heating systems, and home batteries. We control hundreds of thousands of energy assets.

We\’re building in a legacy industry and moving gigawatt‐hours of electrons in the real world, but we operate at lightning speed and are growing the team to meet customer demand.

We\’re proud to be supported by world‐leading investors, including Accel. Read More About What We\’re Building Here.

Axle has quickly become the leader in our operational markets, and we\’re now looking to expand our reach internationally.

At the core of our market expansion plans is market analysis. To maximise future revenue, we spend a lot of time modelling the value of flexibility in power markets around the world.

We are looking for an analytical wizard who can collaborate cross‐functionally, crunch numbers, become an internal expert on markets, and find scrappy ways to get to answers.

What You Will Be Doing

Building models of wholesale and ancillary power markets in different countries to predict revenue

Building and evaluating different strategies for cycling a battery or load‐shifting an EV charger in different countries

Diving into the nitty gritty of power markets to understand how trading, compensation, penalties, and cash flow works

Jumping on the phone with grid operators around the world to validate hypotheses and make sense of data

What We Think You Need To Be Successful

Strong analytical chops (Python, SQL, spreadsheets), highly quantitative

Exceptional communication and the ability to turn data into actionable commercial insights

Comfort moving fast and making decisions in an evolving environment

Knowledge of electricity markets – experience across multiple geographies is a plus

BenefitsA meaningful slice of equity in Axle, alongside a competitive salary.

The opportunity to directly shape the future of energy markets and accelerate the transition to a low‐carbon world.

Bi‐annual retreats to strengthen team connection and shared purpose.

Hybrid working – we have a dog‐friendly office around Old Street. To maximise collaboration, we ask that you spend 2‐3 days a week in the office.

We are extremely keen to build a diverse company, and we\’re particularly eager to hear from candidates who don\’t fit the traditional role stereotypes. If you\’re motivated by our mission, please do reach out, even if you feel you might not \’check all the boxes\’.
