Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Structural Repair Design Engineer with specialized expertise in wing structures and in-service aircraft repair engineering.
In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, reviewing, and technically validating structural repair solutions for active, in-service aircraft. You will perform damage assessments, structural substantiations, and ensure strict compliance with Airbus repair procedures and airworthiness requirements. This position requires close collaboration with Stress/Static, Fatigue, and offshore Design Engineering teams, as well as Airbus signatories and Customer Support.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair Solution Validation: Analyze, review, and technically validate structural repair solutions for daily in-service aircraft requirements.
- Damage Assessment & Substantiation: Assess aircraft structural damage and develop repair solutions based on sound aircraft design principles, repair methodologies, and structural substantiation.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all repair solutions comply with applicable Airbus standards, specifications, engineering procedures, and airworthiness criteria.
- Deliverable & Tool Management: Create, review, and coordinate TD, AW, and RDTS deliverables within the TRM environment. Manage and track repair cases through ICARUS to ensure right-first-time delivery and timely case closure.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Static/Stress and Fatigue Engineering teams to establish structural acceptability and substantiation requirements.
- Global Team Coordination: Collaborate effectively with offshore Design Engineering teams, Airbus signatories, and Customer Support to deliver time-critical repair cases.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify recurring technical issues to drive process, quality, and delivery performance enhancements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- In‑Service Repair Expertise: Proven track record in in‑service aircraft structural repair engineering within an OEM, MRO, airline, or aerospace engineering services environment.
- Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of aircraft wing structures, structural repair design, damage assessment, repair methodologies, and structural substantiation.
- Airbus Ecosystem: Hands‑on experience with Airbus engineering standards, repair practices, procedures, and deliverables (TD, AW, RDTS).
- Systems Proficiency: Practical experience with ICARUS and TRM (or equivalent aircraft repair engineering management systems).
- Stress & Fatigue Exposure: Practical experience working alongside Static, Stress, and Fatigue engineering teams to confirm structural acceptability.
- Delivery & Soft Skills: Strong engineering judgment, high‑level technical documentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple time‑critical cases in a fast‑paced environment.
