The Release Train Engineer (RTE) plays a critical role in coordinating, enabling, and governing delivery across multiple Agile teams within an AXIS Value Stream. Operating within the AXIS Agile framework, the RTE ensures that planning, execution, and delivery remain aligned to strategic objectives, portfolio priorities, and governance standards. As the primary facilitator of the Agile Release Train (ART), the RTE enables predictable, transparent, and value‑driven delivery, working closely with the Value Stream Lead, Portfolio Lead, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and business stakeholders. The role supports AXIS’ Agile principles of transparency, flow of value, built‑in quality, and continuous improvement.
What will you do in this role?
- Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning, ensuring Agile teams are aligned to Value Stream objectives, strategic themes, and approved priorities.
- Identify, track, and actively manage cross‑team and cross‑Value Stream dependencies, ensuring they are visible, owned, and governed within ADO.
- Remove impediments that block team progress, support team development in Agile maturity and delivery predictability.
- Own program‑level delivery reporting, providing clear visibility of progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.
- Track and communicate delivery progress using AXIS‑approved dashboards, tools, and reporting templates.
- Partner with Product Owners to ensure well‑prioritized, clear, and ready backlog.
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage program‑level risks and issues. Facilitate mitigation planning and timely escalation.
- Facilitate alignment between the engineering team and business partners within the Corporate Value Stream.
- Conduct Retrospective, produce lessons learned and propose changes to how we deliver to improve the overall effectiveness of the team.
About You
You bring strong experience in program delivery, Agile facilitation, and stakeholder coordination, with the ability to operate effectively in a complex, enterprise Agile environment. You are comfortable balancing delivery discipline with Agile adaptability, and you understand how governance, tooling, and collaboration enable successful outcomes at scale.
What you need to have
- SAFe Release Train Engineer or equivalent Agile certification.
- 5+ years of experience delivering platform modernisation or transformation.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to and support strategic solution road‑map development.
- Proven ability in stakeholder management, working effectively with senior business leaders, Portfolio Leads and technology stakeholders to drive alignment and informed decision‑making.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and servant leadership capabilities.
- Proven experience delivering strategic business and technology solutions within the (P&C) insurance industry.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, accounting, computer science, engineering, or related field.
