The Business Analyst is a critical role within the Global Markets Transformation team. Reporting to the Head of Transformation for Global Markets, the role ensures that transformation outcomes are grounded in clear problem statements, well-evidenced analysis, and high-quality requirements. This role enables the broader team to make informed decisions, land operational change effectively, and deliver technology, data, and process improvements that strengthen underwriting performance, operational efficiency, and compliance across the London Market.

Acting as the research hub for the team, the Business Analyst explores business needs and assesses practical, implementable solutions. The BA provides structured analysis across processes, controls, and data flows, ensuring decisions are supported by evidence and that solutions align to the wider operating model.

What will you do in this role?

  • Discovery & Analysis
    • Lead structured discovery across business processes, controls, and data flows to understand current-state challenges and improvement opportunities.
    • Run workshops with stakeholders, including underwriting, operations, delegated authority, finance, data, and more.
    • Consider and document clear problem statements, options, impact assessments, and recommendations.
  • Process Mapping & Operating Model Design
    • Document current and future state processes using consistent standards and taxonomies.
    • Identify process inefficiencies, control gaps, and handoff issues.
    • Work with business and technical teams to design practical and scalable future-state workflows.
  • Requirements & Backlog Quality
    • Write high-quality business requirements, epics, features, and user stories with acceptance criteria.
    • Ensure requirements are testable, traceable, and aligned to outcomes and controls.
    • Support backlog refinement with Product Owners and delivery teams.
  • Data & MI Definition
    • Support data transformation journey through process analysis, documentation and improvement.
    • Work with data teams to validate field definitions, lineage, and business rules.
    • Ensure MI and data outputs support business decisions and compliance obligations.
  • Change & Implementation Support
    • Support definition of readiness criteria, training content inputs, SOP updates, and control changes.
    • Partner with stakeholders to ensure business impacts and dependencies are understood and managed.
    • Participate in UAT planning, scenario validation, and defect triage where required.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities, and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

About You:

What you need to have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in transformation, change, or operational improvement roles.
  • Experience within the London Market or Lloyd’s environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including workshop facilitation.
  • Strong process mapping capability and experience with process optimisation.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and numerical skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex problems and communicate clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate with autonomy.
  • Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail.

What we prefer you to have:

  • Experience across underwriting, delegated authority, operations, or data functions.
  • Exposure to agile delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with data concepts, governance, lineage, and validation.
  • Experience defining MI, operational metrics, and data quality controls.
  • Relevant Business Analysis certifications (IIBA, BCS, CBAP).
  • Experience applying process improvement techniques (e.g. process reengineering or Lean Six Sigma).

Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be required to be in the office 3 days per week.
