The Manchester College is seeking a motivated and industry-experienced Engineering Learning Coach to support and develop engineering apprentices across a wide geographical area, primarily covering Cheshire through to Yorkshire. This hybrid, site-based role involves visiting employers’ workplaces to observe learners, assess progress, provide coaching and mentoring, and support apprentices working mainly within Engineering Maintenance disciplines. You will play a key role in ensuring apprentices develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to successfully complete their apprenticeship programmes while maintaining strong relationships with employers and stakeholders. The role includes a car allowance of £3,000+ per annum due to the travel requirements across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace visits to observe, coach, mentor, and assess engineering apprentices.
  • Support learners in achieving apprenticeship standards and qualifications.
  • Deliver high-quality coaching and progress reviews in workplace settings.
  • Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Work closely with employers to ensure apprentices receive effective workplace support and development opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to learners to help them achieve timely success.
  • Ensure compliance with awarding body and apprenticeship requirements.
  • Travel regularly across Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Yorkshire regions.

Requirements

Essential

  • Level 4 qualification (or above) in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Industry experience within Engineering Maintenance or a related engineering environment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the region.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within education, training, or apprenticeships.
  • Assessor qualification (A1, TAQA, CAVA or equivalent).
  • Teaching qualification or experience delivering training/coaching.
  • Experience supporting apprentices or work-based learners.
