Construction Lecturer

Part Time (18.5 hours per week)

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Construction Lecturer to join a well-established Further Education department delivering high-quality teaching across Level 1 to Level 3 Construction programmes .

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled construction professional or experienced FE lecturer to contribute to curriculum development, student success, and departmental growth while working closely with the Curriculum Manager.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging, industry-relevant teaching and supporting learners of varying abilities to achieve their full potential.

Contract Details

  • Pay: £35 per hour PAYE or £40 per hour self-employed
  • Hours: 18.5 hours per week (part-time)
  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration: Until mid-July (end of academic year) with return in September for the new academic year
  • Location: FE College (Construction Department)

Role Overview

You will deliver engaging and effective teaching across Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Construction courses, supporting learners with a range of abilities and learning needs.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, tracking learner progress, and ensuring students are supported to achieve strong outcomes in both theory and practical elements of the curriculum.

You will also contribute to the wider development of the Construction department, including curriculum enhancement and promotional activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver teaching across Level 1 to Level 3 Construction programmes
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to learner ability levels
  • Support learners aged 16–18 in achieving their qualifications and progression goals
  • Monitor and assess learner progress and provide structured feedback
  • Maintain accurate learner records and documentation
  • Work closely with the Curriculum Manager on departmental development
  • Support curriculum growth and improvement initiatives
  • Participate in marketing and promotional events for Construction courses
  • Ensure inclusive, engaging and safe learning environments
  • Support learners with both practical and theoretical aspects of Construction

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience teaching Construction or relevant vocational subject
  • Minimum 6 months experience teaching 16–18 year olds in a similar FE setting
  • Level 2 minimum literacy and numeracy (GCSE English and Maths or equivalent)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage groups confidently
  • Ability to deliver engaging and structured learning sessions
  • Good administrative and organisational skills for learner records and reporting
  • Experience working in Further Education or vocational training environments
  • Either a qualified FE teacher or willingness to work towards a teaching qualification

Desirable Requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) or equivalent FE teaching qualification
  • Industry experience within Construction
  • Experience delivering across multiple ability levels (Level 1–3 learners)
  • Experience supporting curriculum development or course promotion
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and FE sector expectations
