We are actively recruiting a General Ledger Accountant to join our Group Finance team.
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the General Ledger Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete and reliable.
Working closely with colleagues across Finance, including Purchase Ledger, Payroll, FP&A and operational teams, you'll support an efficient month-end close, strengthen financial controls and help embed continuous improvements across our finance processes.

- What You will Deliver
- Take ownership of the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete and maintained in line with accounting standards and company policies.
- Prepare, review and post journals, accruals, prepayments and other ledger adjustments to support accurate financial reporting.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Support the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, ensuring reporting deadlines are achieved.
- Prepare financial reports, variance analysis and supporting commentary to assist senior management and wider finance teams.
- Work closely with Accounts Payable, Payroll, FP&A and operational teams to resolve accounting queries and improve the quality of financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audit activities by preparing supporting documentation and responding to audit queries.
- Monitor expenditure, investigate variances and identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls and improve reporting accuracy.
- Analyse financial data to identify trends, discrepancies and opportunities for process improvement, helping embed robust and sustainable financial controls.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, supporting documentation and general ledger procedures whilst contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
About You
- Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA (or actively studying towards a professional qualification).
- Previous experience working within a General Ledger, Financial Accounting or Management Accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of month-end processes, journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reconciliation.
- Good understanding of financial controls, accounting principles and audit requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines, particularly during month-end reporting cycles.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to challenge and improve existing processes.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in the property, construction or maintenance services sector is advantageous.
- Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
- Experience supporting internal and external audit processes.
