The Role
We’re looking for an experienced and reliable Groundworker to join our NHG contract team. You’ll carry out a wide range of external repairs and groundworks, including brickwork, paving, drainage, and reinstatement, ensuring high-quality results that meet client expectations and resident needs. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you’ll be responsible for delivering efficient, safe, and professional repairs across occupied and void properties.
Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day groundworks and brickwork repairs, reinstatement and renewals.
- Undertake tasks such as paving, concrete works, minor drainage repairs, fencing, and path reinstatement.
- Deliver high-quality workmanship, ensuring all works are completed on time and to specification.
- Conduct risk assessments and comply with all Health & Safety requirements.
- Record work accurately via the Axis mobile app and submit all required documentation.
- Collaborate with supervisors, planners and admin teams to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicles in good condition.
- Support apprentices and uphold Axis’s high standard of customer service.
- Work across occupied residential properties and be available to participate in out-of-hours support or emergency callout rota when required.
About You
You’re a practical, dependable tradesperson with strong groundworks and bricklaying experience. You take pride in your work, pay attention to detail, and are committed to delivering a safe, high-quality service to residents and clients.
Requirements
- Proven experience in bricklaying and groundworks within social housing or maintenance environments
- Valid CSCS card
- Health & Safety training (Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, Working at Heights, etc.)
- Ability to read and follow job instructions accurately
- Full UK driving licence and well-maintained tool kit
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
