Job Description: Underwriting Governance Analyst

How does this role contribute to our collective success?

Reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer of AXIS Managing Agency, this role will be to provide support to the CUO in the oversight of AXIS’s Global Markets business, including the management of its two Lloyd’s Syndicates as well as engaging on a range Global Markets and Lloyd’s Managing Agency tactical and strategic initiatives.

What will you do in this role?

The role will be extremely varied and will involve engagement with a wide range of functional areas of the Global Markets business. You will need to develop working relationships with AMAL CUO, CUO of ASE, Chief of Staff to the Head of Global Markets, Head of Global Markets Transformation, Underwriting team leaders as well as appropriate members of Operations, Actuarial, Compliance, Audit, Risk, Claims, Reserving teams as applicable for any given task or strategic initiative.

Working closely with the Global Markets Executive management, the primary duties will be to:

  • Analyse business needs as they pertain to underwriting governance and oversight

  • Discuss and help design and develop efficient, effective and compliant Underwriting Governance solutions through appropriate engagement with Underwriting and cross-functional leaders

  • Assist with developing suitable materials to enable the implementation of Underwriting Governance Guidance as well as support the CUO with external communication of AXIS’s processes and business plans.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

About You:

What you need to have:

  • Graduate with relevant degree in Finance, Legal, Insurance or Economics related discipline

  • Preferred Lloyd’s/London Market Experience

  • Problem solving/analytical skills

  • Written communication, drafting, report writing & presentation skills

  • Numerate and confident analysing and presenting Data

  • Verbal communication, negotiation & influencing

What we prefer you to have:

  • A level Maths preferred

  • Working towards ACII or Financial/Actuarial Qualifications

Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be expected to work 3-4 days per week in the London office and to typically attend meetings in person, together with the CUO AMAL.
