MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE: The Underwriting Assistant is to provide support and assistance principally to the Global Property underwriters as required. MAIN TASKS To carry out tasks as requested by the product line head to support the US Property unit and the wider Global PropertyUnderwriting team. Maintain records of submissions, meeting notes and data in the unit’s files and ensure these are kept up-to-date. Create meeting packs for Underwriter’s for existing and potential clients. Maintain the unit’s workflow as well as creating and managing catastrophe modelling requests. To be responsible for the quality and integrity of the unit’s data (rate checks, daybook) To take on the responsibility of operating and monitoring premium income (pipeline) Assist in the pricing of accounts via G3P and record data accurately in Desktop Setting up new accounts in Desktop and sending Submissions to CAT team for modelling. Uploading broker submissions to Desktop underwriting To assist underwriters with maintaining beneficial working relationships with brokers and clients to develop the business in accordance with the business plan. Achieve agreed training programme which includes: Understanding the risk decisions, selection and underwriting. Progressive training towards ACII qualification. Attend Lloyd’s briefings on appropriate issues concerning the unit Collate all relevant information required for any internal/external audits. Acquire knowledge of Electronic Trading Platforms (PPL and Whitespace) REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Demonstrable passion or desire to work with in the insurance markets A level / Tertiary education level required Ideally some experience of insurance markets, however, not mandatory OTHER DESIRED SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS: Excellent organizational skills. Good attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Strong numerical background. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop innovative and pragmatic solutions to problems.
