Assistant Underwriter – Capital Risk Solutions
Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyzing policy applications to determine risk levels and appropriate premium rates for renewing business.
- Recommending underwriting decisions and modifications to policies based on individual risk assessments.
- Assisting in the preparation of policy endorsements, renewals, and cancellations in accordance with company guidelines.
- Collaborating with internal teams to gather necessary data for risk evaluation and underwriting processes.
- Providing support in responding to inquiries from brokers and clients regarding policy coverage and terms.
- Participating in internal meetings to discuss underwriting policies and strategies with senior staff members.
- Documenting underwriting decisions and rationales in company systems for review and audit purposes.
- Contributing to team objectives by meeting individual performance targets related to policy underwriting.
Requirements
- Possess analytical skills to evaluate insurance risks and make data-driven decisions.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply insurance laws, regulations, and policies.

Can execute many standard analyses independently, particularly for renewing business. Provides underwriting thought process and recommendations along with analysis to a supervisor or more senior underwriter. Work is tactical in nature. Time horizon for planning is week to week.

Support and guidance is available as needed to help resolve problems and provide ongoing development and advice. Not expected to have a significant impact on new business.

May have a small personal target, though generally supports the team\’s financial success.
Role Factors
