How does this role contribute to our collective success? This role contributes to AXIS' collective success through maintaining and promoting a market leading claims service to support clients' complex risks and challenges and in so doing to support the retention and acquisition of business.
What will you do in this role?
- Manage the AXIS Global Markets Financial Lines Claims Team being a market leading team of nine claims handlers handling FI, W&I, D&O, Credit and Political Risk claims for a wide variety of financial institution, professional and commercial clients and reporting to the Head of Global Markets Claims.
- Provide guidance, oversight and authority on complex coverage and liability issues, reserve evaluations and claim resolution strategies.
- Work closely with claims management, external legal advisors, TPAs, market leaders and brokers to ensure that the highest standard of technical claims handling and customer service is provided consistently across the team.
- Ensure that reserves are entered as quickly and accurately as possible in accordance with AXIS' reserving philosophy.
- Monitor KPIs and ensure that all AXIS' processes and procedures are followed and all regulatory and corporate governance requirements are met.
- Report internally on the claims portfolio and large losses.
- Liaise with underwriters on wording issues and the provision of claims information and attend client meetings as appropriate.
- Liaise with other internal stakeholders (actuarial, finance, reinsurance) as appropriate.
- Maintain a highly engaged team. Maximise working in a hybrid environment, create equitable opportunities for employees and promote a flexible, high-performance culture regardless of where we work.
- Set goals for direct reports and hold ongoing feedback discussions and provide coaching to continue developing direct reports, including the holding of Mid-Year conversations and Year-End Reviews.
- Oversee recruitment when required.
- Promote internal mobility and career development opportunities for direct reports.
- Consider team training needs.
- Promote AXIS DEI efforts, building a safe work environment where all employees' perspectives are welcome and each employee's wellbeing is prioritised.

What you need to have:
- Strong technical financial lines insurance knowledge and ability to manage complex claims.
- Will have worked in a syndicate or company and gained sufficient experience to perform the above duties and responsibilities.
- People management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulately present in meetings.
- Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment.
What we prefer you to have:
- Prior experience in a claims leadership role.
- Knowledge of ECF2.
- Experience with Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Docosoft.
- Legal or professional qualification.
