We are supporting a growing medical devices organisation with the hire of an Area Sales Manager to take ownership of the Scotland & North East territory.

This is a field-based commercial role focused on selling a portfolio of optical/ophthalmic capital equipment and consumables into the retail optical market, including large optical groups and independent practices.

You will be responsible for driving territory growth through a mix of new business and account development, working closely with practice owners, store managers and clinicians to position solutions that support both clinical outcomes and commercial performance within practices.

The role involves managing longer capital sales cycles alongside higher-volume consumables, requiring a structured, strategic approach to account planning, pipeline management and territory development.

You will take full ownership of your patch, identifying opportunities to grow wallet share, standardise product usage across groups, and build long-term customer partnerships.

  • Minimum 3–4 years field-based sales experience (medical, optical or retail healthcare)
  • Experience selling into retail environments (optical, pharmacy or similar preferred)
