Lead Controls/ Automation Engineer * PLC Programming from scratch * Aerospace Manufacturer * Multi-site – Billingham, Sheffield, + France * £50.000 – £65.000 + Benefits We are working with an established Aerospace Manufacturer based in Billingham, UK. They are recruiting for a Lead Controls/ Automation Engineer to join their team. In return for a salary in the region £50.000 – £65.000 along with excellent employment benefits. As a Lead Controls/ Automation Engineer you will be reporting to the UK Engineering Manager responsible for the Maintenance and Improvement of the group’s current PLC and automation equipment across the 5 UK sites and France. You will be required to carry out the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair electrical and electronic systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and related components. You will be also responsible for identifying areas oof improvement with current systems. You will also be required to perform tasks such as wiring, programming, and integrating PLCs with other automation equipment. Key Responsibilities include: * Installation and Maintenance: Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, and control system * PLC Programming: Programming and modifying PLC code using specialist software * Integration: Integrating PLCs with other automation components, such as HMIs, drives, and sensors * Equipment Repair: Repairing or replacing faulty motors, switches, control panels, circuit breakers, and other electrical equipment * Documentation: Documenting work performed, including creation of wiring diagrams, issues or reporting defective equipment, often using the company’s existing maintenance software. * Improvements: Be an active driver of business improvements within the manufacturing processes and the engineering team providing potential automated solutions. * Training: Taking a proactive approach and providing guidance and training to junior electricians and apprentices. * Improvement reliability of PLC systems * Maintenance records/files updated correctly * Upskilling of PLC knowledge across group Requirements: * Willingness to travel and attend all sites. * Ideally educated to Degree standard within an Electrical Engineering Discipline. * Undergone training with recognized PLC systems * Extensive knowledge of programming languages like Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, and Sequential Function Chart * Strong understanding of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and control systems * Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics, blueprints, and diagrams. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical and control system issues. Desirable Requirements: * Working with potential High voltage equipment. * Physical working on the shopfloor * Potential to chaperone contractors around site.
