A VC-backed GenAI startup building an AI-native platform for financial modelling - think replacing the spreadsheet workflows that haven't changed in 20 years. The team is small by design (~7 engineers today) and the bar is high. They’ve already raised a serious round, are live with major enterprise customers, and plan to grow in 2026 - but only by adding exceptionally talented engineers and raising the bar with every new hire.

What you'll do:

  • Build core product features end-to-end across backend (mainly) and frontend
  • Write performance-critical code - remove allocations, optimise queries, aggressive caching
  • Develop and improve an AI coding agent that writes, edits, and reasons over complex spreadsheet models
  • Own backend infrastructure, CI pipelines, and low-level debugging
  • Ship fast without cutting corners on quality

Tech Stack: TypeScript (primary), Rust (when performance matters), AWS, Claude Code/Cursor.

What you'll need:

  • Clear evidence you're a top-percentile engineer - fast promotions, competitive programming, notable projects, or similar
  • Strong fundamentals (language-agnostic - they care more about how you think than what you've used)
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Already comfortable with AI-assisted dev tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.)
  • High agency - you're self-driven and don't wait to be told what to do
  • Happy to be in the office 5 days a week in London (non-negotiable)

You’ll get real ownership, work closely with other strong engineers, and build something people actually use every day.

Compensation: Up to £120k-£200k + equity.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 48 hours.
