This is an early-stage robotics company building the intelligence layer for industrial machines – forklifts, cranes, excavators and other heavy equipment. The approach is pragmatic: start with remote teleoperation to generate real-world operator data at scale, then train Vision-Language-Action models toward increasing autonomy.
You’d join early to lead development of the learning systems powering that autonomy, working closely with the CTO.
What you'll do:- Lead development of the autonomy stack powering industrial machines
- Adapt and fine-tune existing Vision-Language-Action models (e.g. Pi0.5-style architectures) to real-world industrial robotics tasks
- Design training pipelines using real-world operator data
- Apply imitation learning to achieve reliable task automation
- Explore reinforcement learning approaches to improve success rates over time
- Work closely with robotics and platform engineers to turn models into deployed systems
- Strong background in machine learning with hands-on model development
- Experience building ML systems in real products, not just research environments
- Practical understanding of imitation learning or reinforcement learning
- Ability to prioritise pragmatic solutions over academic exploration
- Experience shipping ML-powered features in production environments
- Robotics experience is helpful but not mandatory
