Responsibilities may include:
- Technology and Process Optimization: Identify, implement, and manage legal technology solutions and tools that enhance efficiencies within the legal department. Streamline processes and workflows, leveraging data analytics to improve decision-making and operational effectiveness.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that effective policies and procedures are in place to maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Identify and mitigate risks by implementing best practices in contract management, legal support, and corporate governance.
- Strategic Planning and Budget Management: Develop and manage the legal department's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Implement strategic planning initiatives to support the legal teamβs objectives and improve overall departmental performance. Negotiate rates and fee structures with outside counsel to ensure competitive and cost-effective arrangements. This includes benchmarking analysis with peer firms and presenting financial impact findings to senior management. Oversee the creation of formal confirmations of rate agreements with law firms.
- Vendor and External Partner Management: Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of relationships with external legal service providers and vendors, aiming to optimize cost-effectiveness and quality of service. Analyse financial data to optimize law firm selection and outside counsel management. Monitor and analyse market trends in legal pricing and provide recommendations for cost savings and efficiencies. Strategise the use of outside counsel and advise and/or manage both internal and external stakeholders on questions and issues related to outside counsel management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Several years of dedicated legal operations experience as a legal operations professional and/or legal operations lawyer.
- In-house legal experience is preferred (directly, or as a secondee), but not essential.
- Strong commercial understanding, aptitude for project management and excellent interpersonal skills.
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
