Salary and Benefits (snapshot)

The salary banding for this role is £100,000 – £125,000 based on experience.

The Role

In your role as a Principal Architect, your typical workload will be split between leading client-side engagements, discovery work and providing recommendations to Axiologik clients, through to being hands-on within a team adopting core Architect principles and implementing good practice. As such, we expect you to be confident in fulfilling a varied role.

You will have the opportunity to showcase your drive and ambition through team coaching, mentoring and leadership. You will be working with clients and stakeholders to support and drive their change initiatives and outcomes, whilst empowering internal and external team members in their work. You will be leading by example and creating diverse solutions to complex problems by using your thought leadership skills across a variety of environments and client working cultures.

There is a requirement to be onsite in our central Leeds office 1 to 2 times a week. This can be discussed with your manager for full flexibility and can be restructured to best suit your needs, as well as some travel to client site (specific to client needs and requirements).

As we are consultancy and work with both public and private sector, you must be eligible for SC Clearance.

Essentials

  • Significant experience leading, co-ordinating and managing large architecture teams (5+).
  • Track record of managing the architectural strategy organisation-wide and of large platforms for multiple internal and external customers (ideally Cloud, AWS or Azure).
  • Have experience in driving transformative business change as a technology leader, owning or sponsoring large change programmes.
  • Have continually built great relationships in your technical and business network, demonstrating strong leadership and interpersonal skills throughout.
  • Skilled at directly and indirectly influencing policy & strategy, including structure of transformation programmes.
  • Have defined, validated and agreed organisation wide architecture or technology strategies interlocked with wider business strategy
  • A skilled technologist, able to operate at Enterprise level in:
  • a highly technical environment, with a broad set of technical skills (including Java, JavaScript, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, KafKa, multiple CI/CD tools, integration techniques, patterns etc), and/or
  • a mature data ecosystem, with a broad set of data and technical data skills (including data governance, data quality, master data management, data lineage modelling, data ware/lake houses etc).
  • Prepare and confidently present detailed reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences, articulating complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Communicate simply and effectively at all levels.
  • Detailed understanding across the lifecycle of a modern architectural practice, including defining and overseeing ‘right sized’ governance and assurance.
  • Have experience delivering business value in multiple organisations and sectors.
  • Capable of leading an Axiologik engagement or able to work autonomously and deliver to exceptional quality with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt your working patterns to fit client needs and culture, including flexibility on location.

Desirables

  • Experience of running an architecture team in a “service delivery” context (i.e. operating a consulting team).
  • Familiarity with the use of business architecture techniques to design business elements of transformation initiative
  • Extensive knowledge of several industry standard software packages or SaaS offerings (CRM, ERP, IDAM etc).
  • Leading in and working in environments to continuously improve flow (e.g. practical application of understanding of Team Topologies).

Interview Stages

This will be a two-stage interview process. First stage is virtual or face to face in our offices in Leeds. The second stage will be face to face.
