The role of Commercial Accountant is a hybrid role.
Job purpose: To provide high-quality commercial and management accounting support across the business, delivering insightful analysis, accurate reporting and effective business partnering. The Commercial Accountant will play a key role in driving margin visibility, supporting the Contract Management and Sales functions, and providing timely financial intelligence to support commercial decision-making.
You will be a part-qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) with a strong commercial mindset, excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Experience in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment is essential, as is a passion for process improvement and data-driven insight.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Weekly Flash Reporting – Produce and distribute weekly flash reports by client and dimension, ensuring timely visibility of financial performance across the business.
- FP&A Support to Contract Managers – Act as the primary finance business partner to the Contract Management teams, delivering detailed margin analysis by client, identifying leakage and working proactively with CMs to understand and address variances.
- Revenue & Cost of Sales – Support Head of Finance with revenue and COS customer analysis and the posting of revenue and COS WIP journals at month end.
- Fixed Assets Margin Analysis – Own and maintain the fixed assets margin analysis schedule, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the wider management accounts.
- Expenses Analysis – Prepare and distribute the monthly expenses analysis covering credit cards, staff expenses and Premier Inn card spend.
- 13-Week Rolling Cash Flow – Provide ad-hoc support to the cash flow model maintained by the Finance team.
- Cost Allocation – Support the allocation of Cannock costs by client in collaboration with the Financial Accountant.
- Strategic & Ad-hoc Projects – Contribute to strategic initiatives including ERP improvements / upgrade, Dimensions implementation and service line profitability reviews.
- Business Partnering – Build strong working relationships with the Sales and Contract Management teams, translating financial data into clear, actionable insight to support commercial decision-making.
