We are looking for an organised, proactive and people‑centred HR Administrator to support the delivery of an efficient and engaging HR service at Axians. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys administration, takes initiative, and is keen to grow their HR capability in a supportive and development‑focused environment.
You will support the HR Manager across all stages of the employee lifecycle — including recruitment administration, onboarding, HR operations, payroll input, reporting, wellbeing and engagement activity. You will also have opportunities to contribute to projects and continuous improvement work as the HR function evolves. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their HR career who wants to build strong generalist foundations and gain exposure to a broad variety of HR activities.
Key Responsibilities- Recruitment & Onboarding Support
- Manage the Applicant Tracking System and coordinate recruitment administration
- Arrange interviews and liaise with hiring managers
- Complete pre‑employment checks (RTW, references, DBS, visas/sponsorship)
- Prepare offer letters, contracts and onboarding documentation
- Coordinate equipment and IT requests for new starters
- Support induction processes and ensure compliance with legal and internal requirements
- HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Act as the first point of contact for routine HR enquiries
- Maintain accurate employee records and keep the HRIS (Cascade) up to date
- Support absence reporting, updating systems and preparing return‑to‑work documentation
- Maintain personnel files and HR documentation in line with GDPR requirements
- Support offboarding and ensure smooth transitions for leavers
- Payroll & Reporting
- Provide accurate monthly payroll inputs to the Payroll Team
- Support the production of monthly, quarterly and annual HR reports
- Assist Finance Business Partners with absence and safety‑related reporting
- Run or support the creation of more complex HR data reports when required
- Policy & Process Development
- Maintain and update HR policies, templates and documentation
- Support the HR Manager with research, project work and process improvements
- Identify opportunities to make HR processes clearer, simpler or more efficient
- Ensure compliance with Axians’ Management Systems (ISO 9001, 27001, 14001)
- Wellbeing, Culture & Engagement
- Support the delivery of the wellbeing strategy, including events, communications and initiatives
- Assist with planning and communicating engagement activities
- Support cultural touchpoints such as cards, flowers and recognition moments

- Experience in HR administration or a similar coordination role
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail
- Proactive approach, with enthusiasm for improving processes
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
- Desirable
- CIPD Level 3 (or working towards)
- Experience using Cascade HRIS
- Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, data manipulation)
- Experience running or supporting HR data reports
- Living within 1 hour of Basingstoke
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Ensuring own and Teams adherence to Axians’ Management System Manual for Quality (ISO 9001), InfoSec (ISO 27001) and ESG (ISO 14001).
