The Fabrication Department forms part of the BSL Plant Department which is a major ancillary service to the wider Bachy Soletanche Ltd business and acts as its own standalone cost centre and revenue generating entity. The Technical Supervisor plays a key role in supporting the Fabrication Department’s technical, digital, and administrative functions. This role ensures the smooth execution of quotation development, technical drawing preparation, digital tool implementation, and administrative oversight. The position supports the department’s operational efficiency and contributes to continuous improvement across fabrication processes.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Technical Support (Quotation Development)
    • Collaborate closely with the Fabrication Manager to assist in developing accurate, timely, and cost‑effective quotations for fabrication projects.
    • Interpret client specifications and ensure all quotations align with both customer requirements and the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
    • Identify opportunities to propose alternative engineered solutions that optimise cost, material usage, or production efficiency.
  • Technical Drawings
    • Assist in the creation, modification, and review of technical drawings and fabrication schematics using CAD software.
    • Ensure all drawings are compliant with client specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements.
    • Work collaboratively with design engineers and production teams to translate drawings into practical, manufacturable plans.
    • Support the resolution of drawing‑related queries during the production phase and contribute to continuous improvement of drawing standards.
  • Digital Support (e.g., Powerforms, POR)
    • Support the deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of digital tools such as Powerforms and other workflow systems.
    • Ensure digital platforms are effectively utilized for capturing project data, generating reports, and streamlining internal processes.
    • Provide training, troubleshooting, and user support to team members to maximise adoption and efficiency of digital tools.
    • Collaborate with IT or software vendors to suggest improvements or resolve technical issues related to digital systems.
  • Administrative Oversight
    • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation related to quotations, technical drawings, project timelines, and communications.
    • Support scheduling and resource planning activities to ensure alignment between project timelines and departmental capacity.
    • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., procurement, logistics, quality assurance) to ensure smooth project execution.
    • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and digital platforms such as Powerforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
