- Weighbridge Operative
, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient intake of barley into our malting facility.
You will be responsible for coordinating deliveries, maintaining excellent customer and driver relations, and ensuring all intake activities comply with product quality standards, food safety requirements, and operational procedures.
Working closely with production, hygiene, engineering, and logistics teams, you will help ensure smooth plant operations while contributing to a safe and continuous improvement culture.
- Your Mission
- Safely manage the intake of barley in line with quality specifications, food safety standards, operational procedures, and efficiency targets.
- Maintain positive customer and driver relationships while ensuring intake schedules are respected.
- Support production by ensuring barley intake is completed accurately and efficiently to meet the production plan.
- Uphold intake standards, regulations, SOPs, and quality requirements to maximize First Time Right (FTR) performance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and proactively identify and resolve operational issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety & Food Safety
- Follow all Health & Safety, PPE, and food safety procedures.
- Identify, report, and escalation safety or food safety risks.
- Promote a safe working environment and positive safety culture.
- Hygiene
- Maintain clean and tidy work areas.
- Carry out sweeping, shoveling, grain waste handling, and general housekeeping.
- Clean the weighbridge, intake areas, and intake pits on a daily basis.
- Production & Quality
- Manage barley intake operations to support the production plan.
- Ensure intake activities meet quality standards, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Report and address any issues impacting quality, efficiency, or performance.
- Communication & Teamwork
- Collaborate with Production, Hygiene, Engineering, and other departments.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, drivers, and colleagues.
- Communicate operational issues effectively and in a timely manner.
- Take a proactive approach to problem-solving and operational excellence.
- Contribute to improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service.
Skills & Experience
- Basic IT skills.
