Axcis Education is seeking a passionate and committed Year 1 Teacher for a full-time, long-term maternity cover position within a primary school in Bristol, starting in December 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident teacher who enjoys working with younger children and supporting their development during an important stage of their education.
You will take responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging lessons, creating a positive classroom environment and helping pupils build the foundations for future learning.
The role offers a long-term opportunity with pay in line with the teacher pay scale, making it ideal for both experienced teachers and confident Early Career Teachers.
About the Role
- Take responsibility for teaching and learning within a Year 1 classroom
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative and age-appropriate lessons
- Deliver the Key Stage 1 curriculum and support pupils' progress across core subjects
- Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment
- Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
- Support children's early development in reading, writing and mathematics
- Establish positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
- Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Has experience teaching within a primary school setting
- Ideally has experience teaching Year 1 or Key Stage 1
- Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Can plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners
- Is nurturing, enthusiastic and passionate about primary education
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Is reliable, organised and confident taking responsibility for a class
