Are you passionate about supporting pupils with SEND and looking for flexible work within a specialist school? A welcoming and supportive specialist school in Wallington is looking for a caring and reliable SEND Teaching Assistant to provide lunch cover for pupils with SEMH, ASD and complex additional needs, including pupils who are non-verbal.
The Role
- Support pupils during lunchtime and unstructured periods
- Provide support to pupils with SEMH and ASD
- Support non-verbal pupils with communication and interaction
- Help pupils regulate and manage their emotions
- Encourage positive social interaction and independence
- Support pupils to have a safe and positive lunchtime experience
- Help with personal care where required
- Monitor pupils and respond appropriately to their individual needs
- Work closely with teachers and the wider support team
- Provide a calm, patient and consistent presence throughout lunchtime
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Caring, patient and reliable
- Experienced working with pupils with SEND, SEMH or ASD
- Comfortable supporting non-verbal pupils
- Calm and confident when supporting emotional regulation
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Proactive and able to work independently
- A strong team player with good communication skills
- Reliable and committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, support worker, carer or parent of a child with SEND is welcomed.
This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.
