We are recruiting a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (SEND) to work within an all-through specialist school in Slough. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children and young people with additional needs and wants to make a meaningful contribution to their education, development and everyday wellbeing. The school supports pupils with a broad spectrum of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). You will be working with pupils who have differing levels of ability and support requirements, making this a varied role where no two days are the same. Your role will involve supporting pupils on an individual basis and in small groups, helping them participate in lessons, develop their communication skills and build greater independence. You will play an important part in creating a positive and engaging learning environment, encouraging pupils to explore their abilities and achieve their individual goals. Some pupils will require assistance with personal care and daily living activities, so confidence in carrying out these responsibilities is essential. All care must be delivered in a professional, considerate and respectful way, ensuring each pupil's comfort and dignity.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with children or adults with special educational needs.
  • An understanding of ASD, SLD, PMLD or other complex learning needs.
  • A patient, nurturing and empathetic approach.
  • The ability to adapt to different situations and respond to individual pupil requirements.
  • Confidence supporting personal care and daily routines.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a willingness to work alongside teachers and other support staff.
  • A positive attitude, reliability and a genuine desire to make a difference.
