Early Years SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism & Communication – Havering £100–£115 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Havering
Axcis Education is looking for a nurturing and engaging Early Years SEND Teaching Assistant to work within a primary school in Havering, supporting young children with Autism, speech and language needs and developmental delays. This role would be particularly well suited to an experienced Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Educator or SEND TA who wants to move into a school-based position. You’ll be working closely with pupils who benefit from additional structure, repetition and individual attention, helping them develop their communication, confidence and readiness to learn. Candidates holding a CACHE Level 2 or Level 3 qualification are particularly encouraged to apply, although this is not essential where you have strong practical experience working with young children.
About the Role
- Supporting children across EYFS and KS1
- Working with pupils with Autism, speech and language needs and developmental delay
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting early communication, play and social interaction
- Helping pupils develop phonics, early literacy and numeracy skills
- Using visual timetables, Now & Next boards and structured routines
- Supporting children through transitions and changes to routine
- Helping pupils develop independence and confidence
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support professionals
About You
- Have experience within a nursery, EYFS, primary or SEND setting
- Hold a CACHE Level 2 or Level 3 qualification – highly desirable
- Have experience supporting Autism, speech and language or developmental needs
- Understand the importance of play-based learning and child development
- Are patient, warm and able to build relationships naturally
- Can break activities into small, achievable steps
- Are proactive and comfortable using initiative
- Can commit to a full-time, long-term role
The School & Location
The role is based within a primary school in Havering, with opportunities accessible from Romford, Hornchurch, Rainham, Upminster and surrounding areas. This is a particularly good opportunity for someone currently working in Early Years who wants to take the next step into SEND education, while still using the child-development and relationship-building skills they already have.
