Maths & Science Tutor – Secondary – Havering £120–£160 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Rainham, Havering
Axcis Education is recruiting a confident and engaging Maths & Science Tutor to work within a secondary school in Rainham, Havering, supporting pupils who need additional academic input across Maths and Science.
This role would suit someone with strong subject knowledge who can deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group tuition, helping students close gaps in learning, build confidence and prepare for assessments.
The school is looking for someone who can explain concepts clearly, adapt their teaching style and keep pupils engaged, particularly those who may have struggled in larger classroom settings.
Previous tutoring or school-based experience would be highly desirable, although strong graduates with excellent Maths and Science subject knowledge will also be considered.
About the Role
- Delivering Maths and Science tuition to secondary-aged pupils
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Identifying gaps in knowledge and adapting sessions accordingly
- Supporting pupils with GCSE preparation and exam technique
- Breaking down difficult topics into clear, manageable steps
- Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teaching staff
- Helping students improve confidence, independence and engagement
- Working closely with the school’s teaching and support teams
About You
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who:
- Have strong subject knowledge in Maths and Science
- Have previous experience in tutoring, teaching or academic support
- Are confident supporting pupils at secondary and GCSE level
- Can explain concepts in different ways depending on the learner
- Are patient, organised and able to build positive relationships
- Can motivate students who may lack confidence academically
- Can commit to a full-time, long-term role
The School & Location
The role is based at a secondary school in Rainham, Havering, with good transport links from Romford, Hornchurch, Dagenham and surrounding East London and Essex areas. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with pupils in a more focused tutoring environment and wants to see clear, measurable progress in their Maths and Science attainment.
