Behaviour Support Assistant
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional learning needs? Looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same? We are currently recruiting Behaviour Support Assistants to work across a range of specialist ALN provisions and schools throughout Monmouthshire. These settings support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Autism and other additional learning needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people while gaining valuable experience across a variety of supportive educational settings.
The role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional learning needs
- Support students with emotional regulation, communication and social development
- Assist with personalised learning activities and interventions
- Encourage positive behaviour and build trusting relationships with pupils
- Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
- Work closely with teachers, support staff and external professionals to meet individual pupil needs
What we're looking for:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SLD, SEMH, Autism or additional learning needs is desirable
- A resilient, patient and positive approach to supporting challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain calm and adaptable in different situations
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential
- Relevant education, care or support experience is beneficial but not essential
