Setting: All-through SEMH School

Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday

Pay: £14.50 – £15 per hour

Contract: Long-term

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced staff to help learners overcome barriers to education and achieve positive outcomes.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will build positive relationships with pupils, encourage engagement in learning, and support them to develop confidence in their abilities while accessing a broad and meaningful curriculum.

What the Teaching Assistant role involves:

  • Working as a Teaching Assistant supporting pupils across primary and secondary age groups
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to help learners access education
  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and participation throughout the school day
  • Working alongside teachers and wider professionals to deliver personalised support
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and positive engagement
  • Helping create a safe, consistent, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitoring progress and sharing observations with the wider school team

What we are looking for in a Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children and young people is desirable
  • An interest in working within an SEMH setting
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • A proactive and positive attitude towards supporting individual learning journeys
