A specialist provision in Plymouth is looking for a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join its team from September 2026. The setting supports pupils from Year 3 to Year 11 with Educational, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) relating to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and/or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
The successful candidate will support pupils both in class and on a 1:1 basis, helping to promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning. Duties may include:
- Supporting pupils in lessons and small groups
- Encouraging emotional regulation and independence
- Assisting with outdoor and vocational activities
- Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
The school offers a creative approach to learning, including:
- Forest School for primary pupils
- Craft, Design Technology and Farm sites for secondary pupils
- Access to specialist external training providers
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience with SEMH and/or autism (preferred)
- Be patient, adaptable and supportive
