Location: Patchway, Bristol | Pay: Β£14.25 per hour | Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm | Start: ASAP

Are you a student at UWE Bristol or the University of Bristol looking for meaningful work that fits around your studies? We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support primary aged pupils with autism and learning disabilities in a specialist school in Patchway. This is a chance to gain valuable experience working with children and young people while developing skills in communication, teamwork, patience and emotional support. It can be a great fit alongside university study, giving you experience during school hours while leaving your evenings and weekends free. Flexible supply work can also help students build practical experience around their existing commitments.

The school is a specialist setting for autistic pupils and provides personalised learning designed around individual needs. Its approach focuses on communication, independence, emotional wellbeing and helping every pupil develop the skills they need for the future. The latest Ofsted monitoring visit in September 2025 found that leaders had made progress with school improvement. Ofsted noted calmer and more orderly classrooms, effective support for pupils to re-engage with learning and a comprehensive induction programme for new staff.

  • UWE or University of Bristol students
  • Graduates looking for school experience
