We are looking for a warm, nurturing and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a large primary school in Bracknell, supporting a pupil with significant and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference to a child’s school experience and who understands the importance of building strong, trusting relationships. The successful candidate will be calm, patient and consistent, with the ability to remain positive and emotionally regulated when faced with challenging or extreme behaviour. You will need to be confident supporting children who may struggle with emotional regulation, classroom routines and traditional learning environments, while providing clear and consistent boundaries alongside a nurturing and compassionate approach. The ability to understand behaviour as communication, identify triggers and develop positive strategies to help the child regulate and engage will be essential. This is a truly 1:1 role where relationship-building will be at the heart of everything you do. You will work closely with the pupil throughout the school day, supporting them to access learning, develop independence, build confidence and establish positive relationships with adults and peers. You will need to be creative and flexible in your approach, adapting activities and learning opportunities to suit the individual needs of the child. The school has a strong focus on outdoor learning and Forest School activities, so someone who enjoys being outdoors and is enthusiastic about practical, hands‑on activities would be particularly well suited to this position. You will have opportunities to use the outdoor environment to engage the pupil, support their emotional regulation and provide alternative ways of learning beyond the traditional classroom. Previous experience working with challenging behaviour is highly desirable, particularly within a primary school, specialist setting, SEMH provision or a similar environment. Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex behavioural needs would also be beneficial. Above all, we are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about working with children, is resilient and patient, and who will not give up when things become difficult. The role is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, and would suit an experienced Behaviour Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or someone with strong relevant experience who is looking for a rewarding role where they can have a meaningful and lasting impact on a child’s development.
