Axcis Education is recruiting for Graduate Teaching Assistants to work within a supportive educational setting in Birmingham.
This full-time opportunity is ideal for graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, counselling, or other child-focused professions. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm Pay Rate: Β£14.25 per hour
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them to engage with learning, develop confidence, and achieve their potential. You will work closely with teaching staff to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting students in the classroom on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Assisting with learning activities and lesson engagement.
- Promoting positive behaviour, independence, and confidence.
- Building positive relationships with students and staff.
- Supporting social, emotional, and academic development.
- Adapting your approach to meet individual learning needs.
- Following safeguarding policies and school procedures.
Requirements
- A degree in any subject.
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults through employment, placements, volunteering, tutoring, coaching, or mentoring.
- Experience with supporting Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, proactive, and resilient approach.
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Full-time availability.
