Axcis Education is seeking a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dedicated team in Yeovil, Somerset. This full-time role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about working with children with special educational needs and disabilities as well as those with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of tailored educational programs designed to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Support individual pupils or groups of students, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans and educational activities.
- Help prepare learning resources and maintain the classroom environment to support a positive learning experience.
- Facilitate positive behaviour and encourage students to interact with others and engage in activities.
- Monitor and report on the progress of students to teachers and other professionals as required.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Provide feedback to students on their progress and achievements.
- Manage any immediate issues or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures.
- Participate in training sessions and staff meetings as needed to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within a similar role, particularly with SEND/SEMH students.
- A firm understanding of the needs of students with SEND/SEMH and a dedication to creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A patient, flexible, and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviours and situations.
- Relevant qualifications such as a level 2 or level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience/qualifications in education, childcare, or support for young people.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
