Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant – Full Time (Secondary School)

Location: Yeovil

Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm

Pay: £90–£95 per day.

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong background in SEND, looking for a rewarding full‑time role within a supportive secondary school environment? We are currently seeking a confident and committed Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in Yeovil, supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs) and ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives on making a genuine difference to young people’s lives. The successful candidate will be resilient, adaptable and highly skilled at building positive relationships with pupils who may present with additional behavioural or emotional needs.

Working closely with class teachers, the SENCo and pastoral teams, you will provide targeted in‑class and one‑to‑one support, helping students to access the curriculum, regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies. You will play a vital role in promoting engagement, encouraging independence and supporting pupils to reach both their academic and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing consistent support to students with SEMH and ASC
  • Supporting learning in class, small groups and on a one‑to‑one basis
  • Implementing behaviour and support strategies in line with school policies
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff
  • Promoting a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Have proven experience supporting SEMH and/or ASC
  • Are calm, patient and resilient under pressure
  • Have strong behaviour management skills
  • Are committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
  • Can work full time, Monday to Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm

Pay & Benefits
