Are you looking for a rewarding role supporting young people to overcome barriers and achieve their potential? We are looking for a full‑time SEND Teaching Assistant / Youth Mental Health School Assistant to support students aged 16 to 18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a large secondary school and sixth form in the Swindon area. The school is known for an inclusive culture, strong pastoral support and ambitious approach to education. An Ofsted inspection praised the quality of education, leadership and management, and highlighted that students enjoy attending school, engage positively with learning and benefit from a wide range of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Starting in September, you will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, supporting young people who need positive role models, encouragement and consistency to succeed.
  • You will support students aged 16 to 18 with SEMH needs, helping them to develop personal, academic and social skills, facilitating inclusive learning environments and collaborating with teachers and support staff to deliver tailored learning experiences.

Key Requirements and Experience:

  • Background in youth work, sports coaching, care, support work, mentoring or community roles (prior school experience not essential).
  • Patient, resilient, empathetic and genuinely motivated to help vulnerable young people thrive.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and support a diverse student population.

Remuneration and Employment:

  • Hourly rate: £14.25 per hour.
  • Permanent opportunity after a 16‑week settling‑in period.
