Position Type: Full-time (Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant / Nursery Practitioner to join a welcoming and supportive school in Wolverhampton. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity working with children who require additional support within a nurturing school environment. You will be working closely with non‑verbal children and pupils with Autism providing tailored support to help them access learning and develop socially and emotionally. Personal care is required as part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASC and additional needs
  • Support non‑verbal children using appropriate communication strategies
  • Assist with personal care routines where required
  • Help implement and follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Support pupils’ academic, emotional, and social development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with non‑verbal children and ASC is essential
  • Previous school or nursery‑based experience is essential
  • Nursery Practitioner qualification desirable
  • Qualified or experienced Teaching Assistants encouraged to apply

  • Patient, compassionate, and flexible approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
