SEND Teaching Assistant (Non Verbal)

Location: Wallington, SM6

Hours: 8:45am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

The school currently has Year 7 and Year 8 cohorts, with plans to welcome a new year group each academic year. The Role

  • Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEND, including Autism, non-verbal communication needs, and sensory needs.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional, social, and educational development.
  • Assist with personalised learning activities and encourage independence.
  • Support pupils with communication, engagement, and confidence building.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Create a positive, structured, and encouraging learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism, non-verbal pupils, and sensory needs.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to connect with pupils on an individual level.
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to support wherever needed.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
  • A genuine passion for helping pupils achieve their full potential.
