Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Merton (SM4) this September.

This rewarding role involves supporting primary-aged pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

You will work closely with teachers and therapists to help pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and build independence in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with PMLD, SLD, and complex learning needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
  • Assist students in accessing classroom activities, sensory learning sessions, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Encourage independence, communication, and social development.
  • Support pupils with mobility, physical needs, and daily living skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
  • Provide personal care where required, ensuring pupils are treated with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, PMLD, SLD, complex needs, autism, or physical disabilities.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with personal care needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs achieve their full potential.
  • Experience in education, care, support work, healthcare, childcare, or similar settings is highly desirable.
