We are seeking a dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teacher to join our vibrant, inclusive school community in Twickenham. You will deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction for pupils with a range of additional needs, working collaboratively with senior staff, teaching assistants, and external agencies to ensure each learner reaches their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver tailored lessons in line with the SEND Code of Practice and the national curriculum.
- Conduct assessments, set individual targets, and monitor progress using data-driven approaches.
- Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with pupils, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide targeted interventions and small-group support, adapting resources to meet diverse learning styles.
- Lead or co‑lead behaviour and inclusion strategies, promoting a safe, supportive classroom environment.
- Contribute to whole‑school SEND policy development, staff training, and audit processes.
- Maintain accurate records, produce timely reports, and communicate effectively with parents and carers.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a recognised SEND specialization (e.g., Level 5 SEND qualification).
- Minimum two years’ experience teaching pupils with SEN in a mainstream or special school setting.
- Strong knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, ADHD, and related conditions.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and collaborative skills.
Desirable
- Experience of using assistive technology and multi-sensory teaching methods.
- Membership of a professional SEND body (e.g., SENDIST).
