Axcis Education is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Multi Trades Tutor to deliver engaging vocational learning opportunities for students aged 11-19 with SEND, SEMH needs, autism, and social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
This is an exciting opportunity to combine your industry expertise with meaningful teaching and mentoring, helping students develop practical skills, confidence, independence, and pathways into employment, apprenticeships, and further education.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver practical vocational lessons across multiple trade disciplines including: Carpentry Plumbing Electrical installation Plastering Brickwork
- Plan and teach engaging, high-quality lessons that support student progress.
- Develop industry-relevant learning experiences.
- Support students to build employability, independence and life skills.
- Maintain safe and organised workshop environments.
- Promote positive behaviour and student engagement.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, families, employers and external agencies.
- Support learners towards accreditation, employment pathways and apprenticeships where appropriate.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Relevant trade qualifications and/or significant construction industry experience
- Experience in one or more construction-related disciplines
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to inspire, motivate and engage young people
- Understanding of workshop health and safety requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience within SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or special education settings
- Experience delivering vocational qualifications
- Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches
