Pay: From £92.63 per day Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist SEND school in Bromley.
For pupils aged 7-19, this well-resourced school has an excellent reputation providing high-quality support and education for children and young people with additional needs.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced SEND Teacher within a small Key Stage 2 class, supporting pupils with communication difficulties, autism, and a range of special educational needs.
The role would suit a patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.
Experience using Makaton and/or PECS is highly desirable, as you will be supporting pupils with limited verbal communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEND on a 1:1 and small-group basis within the classroom.
- Assist pupils with communication, learning, and social development.
- Use Makaton and/or PECS to support communication and engagement.
- Support pupils with accessing lessons and participating in classroom activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, Autism (ASD), speech and language needs, or complex learning needs.
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or alternative communication methods.
- Experience supporting pupils in a school, special school, care, or support setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant, SEND, Childcare, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or Education qualifications are desirable.
