Children flourish when they feel safe.

We're seeking an exceptional Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This child needs an adult who can offer warmth without becoming overprotective, structure without being rigid and encouragement without lowering expectations.

Some mornings will begin with reassurance.

Others will begin with laughter.

Every day will require patience, emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust through consistency.

You'll become the reliable adult who helps this pupil feel ready to learn, navigate friendships and believe in themselves again.

What you'll do

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Help the pupil understand and regulate their emotions.
  • Deliver nurture‑based strategies while maintaining firm and consistent boundaries.
  • Create opportunities for success, independence and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo and families.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Understands that behaviour is communication.
  • Can remain calm, kind and boundaried, even during difficult moments.
  • Has experience supporting pupils with SEMH or trauma‑informed approaches.
  • Builds relationships through trust, patience and consistency.
  • Wants to make a genuine difference to one child’s school experience.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for someone who believes that the right adult can change the course of a child’s education.
