Are you looking to make a real difference close to home? We\’re recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to work in partnership with a respected special school in Swindon known for its inclusive spirit, creativity and hands-on learning. The school is rated Good by Ofsted following its ungraded inspection in May 2024, where inspectors praised that pupils are happy, feel safe and respond well to adults using their zones of regulation to stay calm and respectful. The school motto is “Learning for Life,” offering a mix of academic, vocational and practical experiences—farm sessions, residential trips, travel training and a focus on communication and independence.
Role details
Full-time, term-time: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Starts ASAP, with potential to become permanent after an 18-week settling-in period. Salary: £13.70 per hour.

Responsibilities
- Support pupils in a special school setting, promoting inclusion and hands-on learning.
- Assist with behaviour and emotional regulation using zones of regulation to help pupils stay calm and respectful.
- Support with communication, independence and participation in activities, including farm sessions, residential trips and travel training.
- Contribute as part of a team to create a supportive learning environment.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and comply with DBS checks and other mandatory compliance checks.

- Ability to work with vulnerable young learners; experience not required but helpful.
