Axcis Education is currently working with a large all-age special school within the Erdington area. The school caters to individuals aged 4 to 19 years with a main diagnosis of Autism. Their specific needs vary vastly, including challenging and/or distressing behaviour and non-verbal communication, as well as individuals facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
The school is seeking a dedicated and reliable teaching assistant with high levels of resilience and commitment, as consistency is key for all children with SEND needs, particularly for individuals with exceptional SEND needs. The successful candidate will be working with an individual with exceptional special needs who can display very challenging behaviour. Due to the high needs of the pupil, the team of teaching assistants will rotate in and out of working with the pupil and other 1:1 or small groups throughout the day. This decision has been made by the school as they understand the role would be too tough for one person all day. Therefore, the ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
This is a full-time role on a small group and 1:1 basis on an ongoing basis for the remainder of this academic year, returning to the school in September.
