Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting children with Autism? Axcis Education is working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Bedminster, Bristol, to recruit a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant for the full academic year starting in September 2026. This role will primarily involve providing 1:1 support for pupils with Autism, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and reach their full potential. The school also has a well-established Specialist Resource Base for pupils with Autism and communication needs, where you may occasionally be asked to provide additional support, making this an excellent opportunity to broaden your SEND experience.
About the Role
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with Autism within the mainstream primary school
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social interaction
- Use positive behaviour strategies and structured routines to encourage engagement
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised support plans
- Occasionally provide support within the school's Specialist Resource Base, working alongside experienced SEND staff
- Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs (preferred but not essential)
- Is patient, calm and able to build positive, trusting relationships
- Can adapt their approach to meet the individual needs of each pupil
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is passionate about inclusive education and supporting children to achieve their full potential
