Teaching Assistant – ASC Support (Full-Time) Location: Bournemouth Start Date: ASAP or September 2025 Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)? Or are you a graduate with aspirations of becoming a teacher, looking to gain meaningful classroom experience in a supportive primary school setting? A highly regarded, three-form entry mainstream primary school in Bournemouth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time. This role will involve working closely with a Key Stage 2 pupil with a diagnosis of ASC and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ASC and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships that encourage learning and emotional development. About the Role: Full-time Teaching Assistant position Working 1:1 with a pupil with ASC and PDA Collaborating with teaching staff, the SEND team, and external professionals Supporting the pupil both academically and emotionally, promoting engagement and independence Opportunity to work within a well-structured, inclusive, and forward-thinking learning environment The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Proven experience working with children with ASC, ideally with an understanding of PDA strategies A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional regulation Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs A proactive and adaptable attitude to working within a dynamic school environment While prior experience as a Teaching Assistant is desirable, the school is also open to applications from graduates who are considering a career in education.
