We are recruiting a compassionate, resilient teaching assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with social, emotional, and behavioural needs (Autism, ADHD, PDA traits) at a welcoming primary school in Sutton for the remainder of the summer term. The successful candidate will support the child both inside and outside the classroom, building a positive and trusting relationship.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 classroom support.
- Assist with emotional regulation and engagement.
- Support the child during transitions and throughout the school day.
- Manage challenging behaviours, including work refusal and leaving the classroom.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism and ADHD.
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to remain consistent and resilient in challenging situations.
- Relevant TA/SEN qualifications or training (desirable).
