We are seeking a passionate and dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to join our educational team at a supportive school in Sutton, London. The successful candidate will work full-time during term time, providing one-to-one and group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping to facilitate their social, emotional, and educational development.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of personalized educational plans tailored to individual students' needs.
- Support students with ASD in classroom settings, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
- Encourage positive interactions and social skills amongst the students.
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Employ a range of strategies to manage challenging behaviours in a supportive and positive manner.
- Aid in the development of students’ communication skills and independence.
- Regularly monitor and record students' progress, reporting back to the teacher and support staff.
- Attend and participate in team meetings and relevant training sessions.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with ASD students.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by students with ASD and how to address them within an educational context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, compassionate, and adaptive approach to student learning.
- Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all children.
- A relevant teaching assistant or special education qualification is preferred.
