SEMH Teaching Assistant (Trauma-Informed Practice)

Location: Stockport

Age Range: 11–16

Salary: £100+ per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Contract: Full-time/Part-time/Flexible

About the school: A mixed independent therapeutic school supporting pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in both classroom and pastoral settings
  • Apply trauma-informed practices to support emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning and intervention strategies
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
  • Support pupils in developing social skills, resilience, and self-confidence
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and carers to support holistic development

About You

  • Passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs
  • Patient, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent
  • Skilled (or willing to develop skills) in trauma-informed practice
  • Resilient and calm under pressure
  • Strong communicators who can build meaningful relationships
  • Experienced in education, care, youth work, or similar (desirable but not essential)
